WHAT TO WEAR: BLUEBONNETS
It is that time of year in Texas when bluebonnets start to cover the sides of our roads and cover our fields. We know that you will start planning for your mini session and the first step is figuring out what to wear! Our quick color guide is here so that you can dress for a gorgeous session. Quick tipâĻ you canât choose the wrong color. Thankfully those bluebonnets look amazing with every color. However there are some important things to keep in mind, so read below to find out all the details for your Bluebonnet Mini Session. Havenât booked it yet? whites
Wearing white for bluebonnet mini sessions will really make the bright colors around you pop. You will really stand out in contrast. The downside to wearing white is that it does not hide very much. The flowers and grass will leave stains on your clothing and if the ground is muddy, that mud WILL show. White will also show any underclothing, so keep your seems to a minimum.
reds
Reds are a little tricky when it comes to Bluebonnet sessions, but when you get it right, it is STUNNING. If you arenât careful with choosing the right shade, your bluebonnet session can lean towards a 4th of July feel. If you want to rock the American Flag look, then you are great with a traditional red. If you want to avoid that, stick with deep reds, magenta or maroon instead.
pinks
You canât go wrong with pretty in pink. Whether it is pastel or bright pink, it is the perfect pop in the bluebonnet flowers. Keep in mind that lighter pink will be like white in that it will show the grass or mud stains, but it still looks perfect in the flowers. Pink can also be paired with other colors to create a pleasing palette for the photo session.
oranges
The underdog of colors, orange can be awesome in bluebonnet flowers. We generally suggest orange be paired with blues, turquoise or pink and that it be used more as an accent color. When using it as a primary color for your session, add it with other bright colors to really help it pop.
yellows
Yellows are beautiful in pastels or as bright colors for bluebonnet mini sessions. Keep in mind that when you are wearing a light or pastel yellow, the bright sun may wash it out. Wearing a bolder yellow will prevent that from happening, but may reflect onto your skin making it look more yellow as well. It is perfect as an accent color or combined with other colors as well.
greens
All greens look amazing in the bluebonnets. One of our personal favorites is turquoise or teal. It is the perfect backdrop to make you stand out while also perfectly pulling out the blues and purples in the flowers. Using a spring green or even a dark hunter green are also really beautiful in the flowers.
blues
You have arrived at our favorite choice for bluebonnets and it should be self explanatory. Blue looks amazing in any shade, light or dark for bluebonnet sessions. You canât miss with this one. It might also be my favorite color, so I am a little biased, but blue is a spectacular choice for bluebonnet sessions.
purples
Purple is so pretty in the bluebonnet flowers. You can do bright or pastel purples and successfully dress for your session. Keep in mind that the green in the grass and the sun will warm up the flowers of the bluebonnets making them often look more purple than blue. When wearing purple, the flowers may also look purple. If you really want those flowers to look blue, wearing a bolder or darker purple will help.
